Polyester alone makes up 60% of the $2.5 trillion fashion industry and is the biggest blocker preventing brands from meeting sustainability mandates. The patent-pending ALT TEX fermentation technology creates a polyester alternative that works with the existing infrastructure to supply a sustainable, high performance and cost competitive polyester replacement to fashion brands, at scale. \r\n\r\nThe product solves key problems for fashion brands, consumers, and the environment:\r\n\r\n(1) Fashion brands: ALT TEX sells fabric to fashion brands, allowing them to differentiate via sustainable options (sustainable fashion growing 11% CAGR) and hit sustainability targets, without sacrificing performance or changing their current supply chain.\r\n\r\n(2) Consumer: The ALT TEX fabric is projected to be half the price vs. other specialized sustainable alternatives (due to low-cost input and scalability), meaning greater accessibility.\r\n\r\n(3) Environment: A single shirt produced with ALT TEX fabric can divert 1 kg of food waste from landfills, 9 kg of carbon emissions from the air, and 4 g of micro-plastics from our waterways.\r\n\r\nCo-founders Myra and Avneet have worked together managing teams and projects for six years, with backgrounds in serial entrepreneurship, corporate sales at Fortune 500 companies, textile manufacturing and biochemistry. To date, ALT TEX has created their first fabric prototype that’s 70% stronger than cotton, secured $1M in LOIs and raised $2.3M.",

"tagline": "Biodegradable, carbon neutral, cost competitive and high performance fabrics, engineered from the world’s largest landfill contributor - food waste.",
"body": "Hey All! We’re [Myra](https://www.linkedin.com/in/myra4/) and [Avneet](https://www.linkedin.com/in/avneet-ghotra-51284728/), co-founders of [ALT TEX](http://thealttex.com). We’ve created the world’s first polyester-alternative fabric, made from food waste.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=65136&key=user_uploads/578199/71da3b57-6b33-4db2-a80f-becf0dd70065)\n\n🌍 **The problem: polyester is leading fashion’s GHG emissions, but has no circular alternative.**\n\nThe fashion industry’s heavy reliance on petroleum-derived polyester textiles is a major contributor to the 10% of global GHG emissions the industry generates annually. The plastic-based material, found in 60% of the clothes we wear, creates over 50 million tons of global annual landfill waste, generates 35% of all ocean micro-plastics, and consumes 70 million barrels of oil each year.\n\nDespite 1/3 of the fashion industry committing to 0 carbon emissions by 2050, polyester, the most widely used fabric, has no fully circular, carbon-neutral alternative.\n\nAt the same time, food waste is on the rise with 1 billion tons generated annually across the world. So, we’re using one problem 🍎 to fix the other 👕. Here’s how ⬇️\n\n👕 **The Solution: Fabric created from the world’s largest waste source - food waste.**\n\nALT TEX reduces the fashion industry’s dependence on fossil fuels through its biodegradable and carbon-neutral textiles engineered from food waste. The patent-pending fermentation technology plugs into the existing polyester supply chain to provide fashion brands with a cradle-to-cradle polyester alternative without sacrificing performance.\n\nThe product solves key problems for fashion brands, consumers, and the environment:\n\n1. Fashion brands: ALT TEX sells fabric to fashion brands, allowing them to differentiate via sustainable options (sustainable fashion growing 11% CAGR) and hit sustainability targets, without sacrificing performance or changing their current supply chain.\n2. Consumer: The ALT TEX fabric is projected to be half the price vs. other specialized sustainable alternatives (due to low-cost input and scalability), meaning greater accessibility.\n3. Environment: A single shirt produced with ALT TEX fabric can divert 1 kg of food waste from landfills, 9 kg of carbon emissions from the air, and 4 g of micro-plastics from our waterways.\n\n**The Story & Future:**\n\nMyra and Avneet have worked on every school project together since the 9th grade. With Myra’s background in corporate sales and family history in the textile sector, alongside Avneet’s background in environmental science and biochemistry, the two came together in 2020 to build ALT TEX. Today, ALT TEX has created its fabric prototype, raised $2,300,000 USD in funding, secured $1,000,000 in pilot LOIs and has grown the team to 10.\n\n**How you can help:**\n\nAs we scale out of the lab and into the market over the next year, we’re looking for:\n\n1. fashion brands interested in sourcing a sustainable polyester alternative\n2. food manufacturers looking for a sustainable way to re-purpose their waste\n\nIf you’re curious or have help/resources for us, please feel free to reach out!\n\n📩 [myra@thealttex.com](mailto:myra@thealttex.com)\n\n🌐 [thealttex.com](http://thealttex.com) | [linkedin.com/company/alt-tex/](http://linkedin.com/company/alt-tex/)\n\n👩‍💻 [@thealttex](https://twitter.com/thealttex)",

"title": "Pentagon - A coordination layer for humans and agents.",
"tagline": "A new kind of team: humans and agents, working together.",
"body": "Hey YC! I'm [Edgar](https://www.linkedin.com/in/edgarpavlovsky/), building [Pentagon](https://pentagon.run).\n\n**TL;DR** Agents are everywhere but they don't have good ways to work together, so humans become the coordination bottleneck. Pentagon is a coordination layer where your agents communicate autonomously, coordinate on tasks, and get work done as a team.\n\n**Book a demo and see it in action:** <https://pentagon.run>\\\n**Our launch video:** <https://youtu.be/D28Mi7AXAeY>\n\n**Problem**\n\nAgents are increasingly becoming AI teammates at work - coding, researching, ops, even talking to customers. But they work alone. Coordination is the bottleneck, and it shows up differently depending on where you sit:\n\n* **Small teams** are spinning up agents from scratch and immediately hitting the ceiling: each one is powerful on its own, but getting them to actually work together means you're back in the loop, copy/pasting between terminals.\n* **Enterprises** already have agents running everywhere across the org. The hard part is figuring out what they're doing, how they fit together, and how to keep track of it all.\n\nUnderneath both: humans are the middleware. Hours of human time burnt doing work meant for a mechanical turk. Today's tools weren't built for this - AI products are conversational and non-deterministic, and reproducing workflows is harder than ever.\n\n**Org code**\n\nThere's a deeper layer to this. Great teams are built for the moment - the right team depends on the problem at hand, the resources you have, and even who's leading. This applies to agents the same as it does to humans: every problem has its own org structure.\n\nAndrej Karpathy calls it \"org code\" - and points out that compared to classical orgs, agentic codes have powerful new properties: they’re reproducible and more transparent. We think that agents also allow organizations to be much more dynamic: they can adapt to problems in realtime, and open a new dimension of what it means to build a productive organization.\n\nFrom [a popular Karpathy tweet](https://x.com/karpathy/status/2031767720933634100):\n\n![Image](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HIts8HMaIAAKjok?format=jpg&name=medium)\n\n**Our first solution: Pentagon Studio**\n\nPentagon's mission is to build the coordination layer for humans and agents. We're starting with Pentagon Studio - a workspace designed to feel familiar to existing alternatives and shepherd companies into a new kind of collaborative work.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=101681&key=user_uploads/402484/286ecb28-a420-4390-81cf-f1c1b181ec5c)\n\nIn Pentagon Studio, you define your org structure and your agents run it. Agents live on a spatial canvas and pop up sticky notes with status updates - you see who's active, idle, or blocked at a glance. They message each other, delegate tasks, share context, and build self-evolving memory over time. As the human, your job is to design and manage the team; they do the coordination.\n\n* **Spatial canvas.** Agents live on infinite canvases you can think of like an office. Zoom in on one agent's conversation, zoom out to see the whole operation. The \"org IDE.\"\n* **Autonomous coordination.** Realtime, event-driven communication between agents - no expensive polling loops. Agents take feedback from you, ping another agent to get work done, then ping you when they need you.\n* **Agent persistence.** Agents maintain sessions indefinitely and compound institutional knowledge over time. Tribal knowledge for your agent team.\n* **Shared skills & tools.** Manage capabilities at individual, team, workspace, or org level. Each agent inherits based on hierarchy.\n* **Human multiplayer + human-in-the-loop.** In contrast to \"zero-human company\" angles, we see humans and agents collaborating across shared orgs. Your agents should be able to work with your coworkers' agents.\n\n**Why now**\n\nAgents are already inside companies. The infrastructure to coordinate them isn't. Every day this gap stays open, humans burn hours doing work meant for a mechanical turk and leaders lose transparency into how work actually gets done.\n\nWe believe the best version of the future is one where superintelligent agents are viewed as teammates and we work with them as partners. Every company already knows how to work with coworkers - agents fit into existing organizational frameworks better than we've been giving them credit for. They just need the infrastructure to coordinate.\n\n**Ask**\n\nIf you're running agentic workflows in production and struggling to manage them, we’d love to chat. See Pentagon Studio in action and book a demo with us at <https://pentagon.run> or reach out to me personally, and let’s evolve your team: [edgar@pentagon.run](mailto:edgar@pentagon.run).\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=101681&key=user_uploads/402484/eb375bb3-1851-449f-9953-0daea8bee1b2)\n\n",
