Factories are forced to under-bid contracts to win business, but often, they later surprise the customer with quality problems and delays.\r\n\r\nThis process is broken. We install cameras and remote monitoring software on the assembly line, and this ensures compliance with test protocol, improves quality, reduces liability, and helps fight warranty fraud.\r\n\r\nWe charge a nominal per-unit fee to the OEM and revenue share with the factory when they demonstrate compliance with quality standards (whether units pass or fail).\r\n\r\nIt encourages better behavior from factories and rewards those who perform with an audit trail of good performance that helps them win new foreign business.\r\n\r\nOn average, defect rate will fall 75% within 5 months of deploying Assembly at a factory.", "one_liner": "Advanced manufacturing and distribution solutions (for China-based…", "team_size": 12, "industry": "B2B", "subindustry": "B2B -> Supply Chain and Logistics", "launched_at": 1429997718, "tags": [ "Logistics", "Manufacturing", "China" ], "tags_highlighted": [], "top_company": false, "isHiring": false, "nonprofit": false, "batch": "Summer 2015", "status": "Active", "industries": [ "B2B", "Supply Chain and Logistics" ], "regions": [ "United States of America", "America / Canada", "Remote", "Partly Remote" ], "stage": "Early", "app_video_public": false, "demo_day_video_public": false, "app_answers": null, "question_answers": null, "url": "https://www.ycombinator.com/companies/assembly", "api": "https://devasheeshg.github.io/yc-api/batches/summer-2015/assembly.json", "year_founded": 2014, "city": "Los Angeles", "country": "US", "linkedin_url": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/assembly-inc./about/", "x_url": "https://twitter.com/assembly_inc", "fb_url": null, "cb_url": null, "github_url": "https://github.com/asm-co", "logo_url": "https://bookface-images.s3.amazonaws.com/small_logos/6ccab13d3e0d1ffa05b2e8a687246cac34ef55b8.png", "app_video_url": null, "dday_video_url": null, "company_photos": [], "primary_partner": null, "founders": [ { "user_id": 5656, "full_name": "Jonathan Friedman", "title": "Founder/CEO", "founder_bio": "Ph.D. in electrical engineering with a background in biomedical and industrial systems engineering. 2x YC Founder.
