Think of it like an electric flying jet ski, that is super bad ass. The complete overhaul that the 50 year old Jetski desperately needs.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/1b753dae-0030-4a9a-90b6-055292666ef0)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/a5b48647-e421-4c01-8254-99b09d61e6e2)\n\n**📉The old - Jetskis**\n\nLoud, gas-burning, noisy impeller driven, wake causing, wave splashing bathtubs.\n\n**📈The new -** [**_Valo_**](https://ridevalo.com/)\n\nA fully electric, near silent, near zero wake, high speed, highly agile vehicle that slices above the waves.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/6eaeca7e-206f-4368-8a7f-fc6298be1c01)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/323c9876-4d67-4d88-bb74-178cb0e6e80d)\n\n### **📋 Specs:**\n\n* Top speed: 58 mph\n* Range: 68 miles\n* Charging time: 3 hours\n* Cruising altitude: 2 ft\n* 100% electric\n* Hull: Carbon Fiber\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/de88bd84-ff5b-45b1-ae7b-c0d690d77872)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/d1aa3612-35cd-459e-8604-0c7c09de6698)\n\n### 🤔 **Why do I want one?**\n\nRiding Valo is truly exhilarating, flying clear above the surface of the water, banking into turns like a ski racer.\n\nYou don't get wet. You don't need good balance.\n\nCruise from the SF Marina to Sausalito in 10 minutes. Have a cocktail, enjoy the sun. All without making waves, noise, or emissions.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68006&key=user_uploads/159353/53404302-f851-49cf-87ab-42418c643755)\n\n### **🔨Who is making it?**\n\nOur team consists of world class engineers that have worked on Americas Cup racing yachts, hyperloops, self landing rockets, and navy ships, as well as having a massive amount of experience in making electric foiling boats. We are super confident that Valo will work better than we have planned and that customers will absolutely love it. We are going to use the technology in Valo to revolutionize increasingly larger boats and ships, ultimately bringing zero emissions technology to the entire marine sector.\n\n### **📦How do I get one?**\n\n[Place a reservation today!](https://ridevalo.com/) $1000 fully refundable. A reservation secures your spot in the line for the limited production slots we will have available next year.\n\n### \n\n**📆When will it be ready?**\n\nWe will have a prototype complete by early Feb next year, and will be offering demo rides.\n\nWe will then have a limited run of founders edition vessels delivered mid next year, with priority given to the reservation queue position. The full production run will begin early after that.\n\n### \n\n**🎣How much does it cost?**\n\nValo costs more than your typical jet ski. Production price is targeted at $59,000.\n\nThis is because Jetski’s and PWCs in general are pretty much glorified fiberglass bathtubs with a piston engines slapped inside. Valo is effectively a fully featured electric aircraft with wings, stabilizers, actuated control surfaces, inertial sensors and complex flight control software, nothing else out there comes close to it, and all that extra stuff does add to the cost.\\\n\\\nIf you have any questions, reach out to [valo@boundarylayer.tech](mailto:valo@boundarylayer.tech)\n\n### **Thanks!**",

But the supply of cocoa is endangered and chocolate is as bad as meat for our planet. \r\n\r\nWe make future-proof chocolate using precision fermentation. Doing this, our chocolate is 10x more sustainable and 20% cheaper than conventional chocolate. In order to mimic the organoleptic properties of chocolate (tender, smoothly melting taste release) we are working on the flavor itself but also on replacing the cocoa butter. \r\n\r\n55 Mio lbs of chocolate are consumed every day. By 2035 we will substitute a big chunk of it through our sustainable chocolate. \r\n\r\nIn addition, we are working on extending our technology platform to additional ingredients such as palm oil.\r\n",

"tagline": "We recycle plastic using engineered enzymes",
"body": "**The problem:**\n\nToday, plastic recycling doesn't work.  Less than 9% of plastic is recycled in the United States, a number unchanged over the past 15 years.  The current mechanical recycling process involves melting and reforming plastic at high temperatures, generally resulting in major greenhouse gas emissions while producing low quality plastic at high cost.  This is a major problem as consumers demand more sustainable plastic products, but brands are unable to meet this demand due to sustainability, quality, yield, and price issues with mechanically recycled plastic.  If we don’t develop a circular plastic economy, plastics will be responsible for 15% of global CO2 emissions by 2050.\n\n**The solution:**\n\nBirch Biosciences is engineering an enzyme-mediated process to recycle plastic. Our high performance enzymes work as “molecular scissors'' at low temperatures to break down plastic polymers into monomer “building blocks,” which can be re-polymerized into high quality recycled plastic products. Birch recycling technology will:\n\n* **Reduce** **carbon emissions** associated with plastic recycling by > 70%.\n* Generate recycled plastic of **equivalent** **quality** **to new plastic**.\n* Produce recycled plastic at **equal or lower cost** than mechanically recycled plastic.\n* Increase the variety of plastic products that can be **effectively recycled**\n\nBirch’s recycling process enables a true ‘circular’ plastic economy where plastic products are continuously recycled into the same plastic products, rather than being manufactured from oil or gas.  This is especially important as consumers, brands, and our planet demand more sustainable products.\n\n**Our technology focus:**\n\nEnzymes as “molecular scissors” are the centerpiece of our recycling technology. We discover and develop high performance enzymes using iterative machine learning and quantitative high-throughput screening of novel protein designs. Our technology stack enables design of robust enzymes for industrial scale plastic recycling using a fermentation-like bioprocess.\n\nWe’re currently focused on engineering enzymes for PET plastics (i.e., beverage bottles, polyester clothing) and polyurethane plastics (i.e., foam for furniture, bedding, insulation). In addition to YC, our technology development is supported by the US Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation.\n\n**How you can help:**\n\nIf you or anyone in your network might be interested in learning more or helping out, we would love to chat.  We're especially interested in talking with:\n\n* Companies and brands that use PET plastics\n* Experts in the plastic manufacturing and recycling industry\n* Operators of recycling facilities\n* Nonprofits with an interest in sustainability and plastic recycling\n\nWe can be reached at [founders@birchbiosciences.com](mailto:founders@birchbiosciences.com)",

"tagline": "Landlord with Solar? Start billing tenants like a utility.",
"body": "# 🚀 Wand Solar — Bill Tenants for Solar Energy Like a Utility\n\n👋 Hi everyone! We’re Idan and Itai, co-founders of **Wand Solar**.\n\n## 🔥 The Problem\n\n**Solar wasn’t built for rentals.**\n\nToday, landlords invest in solar systems for their rental properties, but **tenants get all the savings**.\n\nLandlords pay tens of thousands upfront—and see no return. ❌\n\nWe spoke with dozens of landlords who installed solar on their house, but when they moved out and kept it as a rental, they had **no way to bill their tenants** and recoup their investment.\n\n<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CW7_9W_ZDmI>\n\n## ⚡ What We’re Building\n\n**Wand lets landlords bill tenants for solar energy—just like a utility.**\n\n* 💰 Tenants pay what they normally would for electricity (or less)\n* 🏠 Landlords finally earn from the solar systems they paid for\n* ⚡ Same utility line items and tariffs. Full transparency\n* ✨ Want to offer a deal? Set your own discount (e.g., 10%, 15%)\n* 💳 Tenants pay by credit card—just like any other utility\n* 🏦 Landlords get paid via wire transfer\n\n**_No additional hardware. No tenant disruption. Just new income from the sun._**\n\n**_You earn first, we only earn when you do_** - we charge 10% of the solar revenue you collect.\n\n## 🔄 How It Works\n\n1. **Add your property and connect your solar system -** just enter basic property info and link your solar setup.\n2. **We track solar usage in 15-minute intervals -** we measure how much solar energy your tenants use—accurately, throughout the month.\n3. **We generate monthly solar bills using your utility’s rates -** the bills reflect the same line items and tariffs your utility company uses.\n4. **Tenants receive transparent, familiar-looking bills -** nothing confusing—just clear, itemized solar billing that looks like a standard utility bill.\n5. **Tenants pay, you get paid -** tenants pay by card, you receive automatic transfers. You keep 90%, we take 10%.\n\n## 💡 Why We Built This\n\nBefore Wand, we built a DevOps startup together. But we wanted to work on something with deeper impact—something that could actually move the needle on climate.\n\nThen we saw this stat:\n\n**55% of electricity in the U.S. is used in rental properties.**\n\nYet solar adoption in rentals is almost nonexistent—because of the **split incentive problem**: landlords pay for solar, but tenants get the savings.\n\nIt’s a broken system. And it’s a massive opportunity—both for reducing carbon emissions and unlocking billions in untapped properties across the entire value chain.\n\nWe built Wand to fix it. Now, landlords can finally earn from solar, and tenants still benefit from clean, affordable energy. Win-win.\n\n🚀 [Use Our Solar Income Calculator to See How Much You Could Earn—in Seconds.](https://www.wandsolar.com/real-estate)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=89699&key=user_uploads/1014551/e1089a7c-f5b5-494e-ab45-6ef4458b85d4)\n\n## 🏁 Ready to Boost Your Income?\n\n☀️ **Already have solar?**\n\n[Sign up now](http://app.wandsolar.com/signup) and **get your first month free.**\n\n_shoot us an email at _[_founders@wandsolar.com_](mailto:founders@wandsolar.com)_ after you sign up to claim it._\n\n🔧 **No solar yet?**\n\nWe’ll connect you with trusted installers—schedule a call or drop us a line \\*\\*[**here**](https://www.wandsolar.com/schedule-a-call).\n\n**Wand Solar — Utility-style billing for landlords with solar.**\n\nCheck us out → [www.wandsolar.com](http://www.wandsolar.com)\n\n📬 Questions? Guess what we found out?!**\n\n[Allero](https://github.com/allero-io/allero) is an open source (<https://github.com/allero-io/allero>) CLI policy enforcement tool that protects your production CI/CD pipeline. CI/CD pipelines tend to be messy, and there are so many variations of pipeline manifests spread across different repositories. This makes it difficult to ensure security, code quality, and compliance standards are in place in every pipeline.\n\nBy running Allero, you can easily reveal and prevent problematic pipelines across multiple organizations and repositories.🏁\n\n### **👩🏽‍💻Who is it for**\n\nYou are a DevOps engineer or a platform engineer responsible for CI/CD pipelines in your company. You have at least a few dozen pipelines, and they are complex as hell! You obviously spend so much time managing and maintaining them, which is a total nightmare. Why? because you need to ensure that the code they deliver is bug-free, not vulnerable, scalable, and ready for production.\n\n**We already found many problematic pipelines in open-source projects, and we are 100% sure there are many of them out there!**\n\n* [Medium](https://github.com/Medium/jupyterhub/blob/master/.github/workflows/test.yml#L141) - When using npm in CI, in order to avoid surprises in dependencies’ versions, you should always use `npm ci` instead of `npm install`\n* [Supabase](https://github.com/supabase/supabase/blob/master/.github/workflows/integration-tests.yml#L42) - When using `npm ci` / `npm install` without `--ignore-scripts` - you risk running unknown scripts injected by your dependencies - which may be malicious.\n\n**Are you sure you don’t have them as well? Go ahead and see for yourself** **with** **our** [**CLI**](https://github.com/allero-io/allero#%EF%B8%8F-one-minute-installation-to-run-allero-validation-on-a-daily-basis-most-recommended)**!**\n\n**Wanna help us out?**\n\nWould love for you to run our tool, and to hear your thoughts! If you’re missing any rules, please reach out to us at [founders@allero.io](mailto:founders@allero.io) or just create a [new issue](https://github.com/allero-io/allero/issues/new) in our repo!\n\nIf you found this helpful, would love you to share it with your friends. During my years at Microsoft, I worked with lots of companies who developed microservices in the cloud. While microservices bring lots of advantages, they also come with a lot of complexity - as there are so many of them, often by the hundreds.\n\nHundreds of microservices means hundreds of delivery processes - a significant bottleneck with DevOps engineers. I witnessed developers ending up developing their own delivery processes (CI/CD), while the DevOps team owns the process organization-wise and provides guidance to developers.\n\nThis poses a huge challenge for companies (and in particular DevOps and Platform Engineers) to ensure CI/CD pipelines are up to security, quality and compliance standards.\n\nAs a result, companies are forced to allocate significant engineering resources to deal with incidents like data breaches, complex rollbacks due to bugs, long delivery times, etc.\n\n## 🤯 We solve it with one simple CLI tool!\n\n**Manage your deployment risks with us!**\n\n* ✔️ Simply query pipelines to ensure they are up to security, compliance, and quality standards, across the entire organization.\n* 📊 Gain visibility into your pipelines across multiple SCM and CI/CD platforms in one single tool.\n* 🏃 Simplicity is our thing. Just download the CLI, generate a token, and start querying pipelines.\n\n**For example:**\n\n* Verify that every pipeline implements Snyk / SonarQube / unit/integration tests. (or any other tool!)\n* Make sure binaries are not being published to the wrong destinations.\n* Get the top 10 pipelines that fail the most / are the slowest.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=64859&key=user_uploads/1014551/eae5776e-8ef1-4b8d-8b5c-49f1cda57bca)\n\n**Sounds interesting? "title": "(🌍) Bluedot - Single payment solution for electric vehicle drivers and fleets",
"tagline": "Bluedot makes EV charging payment easier and simplifies expense management for drivers and fleets.",
"body": "### **TL;DR**\n\n* **What:** [Bluedot](https://thebluedot.co/) is a single payment platform for EV (electric vehicle) drivers and fleets to charge their cars and manage expenses.\n* **Traction:** We continue to grow since launching publicly on December 15. As of Feb. 28, our **GMV was $82K last wee**k, and it’s **growing by 45% weekly**. We have closed 5 fleet companies.\n* **Here’s what one of our EV fleet management customers had to say:**\n\n “We have partnered up with Bluedot to give our drivers a better charging experience and understand charging behavior and optimize it. Our drivers enjoy using Bluedot so far. The charging map is great and makes it easy for me to drive without worrying.” \n\n “They love that they can pay a flat fee at any charging station and pay without having to download numerous apps. Saves money and time!”\n\n### ⏳ **Problem and how fuel card industry is changing**\n\nCurrently, EVs account for 5% of new car sales in the US and the Biden administration has set an ambitious goal to increase the **market share to 50% by 2030.** To encourage EV adoption, the federal government is investing in building 500,000 new public charging stations for these cars. Along the way, the projected spend for all-electric vehicle charging is expected to hit **$25 billion**.\n\nHowever, this transformation comes with some challenges and opportunities around charging and payments, such as:\n\n📱 **Accessibility:** Currently, to charge their cars, drivers need 5-6 different apps & cards to find and pay at charging stations. This is especially inefficient and difficult for fleet drivers who need to charge frequently.\n\n📊 **Trackability:** It’s hard for fleet managers and drivers to track charging behavior and spending, which creates an inefficient ecosystem.\n\n🧾 **Reimbursement:** Lack of accessibility and trackability also makes it harder for fleet drivers to get reimbursed for charging expenses. Also, most drivers can charge their cars at home, which adds to reimbursement problems.\n\n### Bluedot aims to address these challenges and help accelerate the transition to EV transportation.\n\n### **💡 How Does Bluedot Work?**\n\n▶️ **Bluedot Driver App:** EV drivers can access 60% of available charging stations and pay with the [Bluedot App](https://bluedot.app.link/SPpSLBVv8ub), while also enjoying savings on auto-related expenses.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=69841&key=user_uploads/711269/024d8b2f-e99b-44bf-9b06-b368614ec80f)\n\n▶️ **Bluedot Dashboard:** Fleet managers can monitor and authenticate driver permissions, as well as gain better visibility into charging and driving behavior, helping to improve fleet efficiency and control costs.\n\n### **👥 Bluedot Crew**\n\n> ![](https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/825Nr_5QT2HD7fYmh4DKuM9NiifgbBP7hNua8V_VxG2pwDcRE7KFieNd_FHkLSy_wCZLjcEAhg8sVfo_SDcwa3dJ3MwKVlPVlcq7rGrYtp5BgtKyz0HuHvdXiH-fKyHsgLDc4rzhQqwgZTOa2kBKUkQ)\n\n\n_From our Bluedot Exclusive event for our drivers_\n\nOur team comprises long-time friends Ferhat and Selinay, who have known each other since high school. Ferhat has worked at reputable car and mobility companies such as **Zipcar, Bosch**, and **Mercedes-Benz**. Meanwhile, Selinay has worked on multiple EV projects and has been recognized by **Business Insider as a Rising Star in the EV Industry**. She was also nominated as Women4Climate by C40 cities.\n\nEmre and Yunus, our technical leads, have built applications that have reached 3 millions users without a marketing budget. Our team is characterized by our grit and perseverance, and we pride ourselves on acting fast and building faster. \n\nWe are backed by investors including Axel Springer and Porsche, Ford, TechNexus, DRF, Eksim Ventures and Pritchard Automotive.\n\n### **🙏🏼 Ask**\n\nWe are expanding and distributing our offering through auto dealers, auto financing companies, fleet management and delivery companies.\n\nWe want to learn more about how they currently manage charging and if they could benefit from payments platform and dashboard.\n\nAlso, try our product and let us know your feedback! "tagline": "We help grid-scale battery operators adapt to changes in the grid with energy management software that automatically adjusts its behavior to maximize revenue",
"body": "### **Meet the Team:**\n\nI’m [Jack](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jackogrady/), the founder of [Keeling Labs](https://www.keelinglabs.com/)! I started the company because I believe that batteries are crucial to enabling more renewable energy from solar and wind, and I wanted to bring applied AI to the table to help scale the deployment, efficiency, and performance of these assets.\n\nPrior to this, I worked on battery algorithms, data, and optimization for 3+ years at Rivian, where I started the company’s Battery Data Science Team and pioneered the application of Reinforcement Learning to fast charging in the R1T/R1S.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68703&key=user_uploads/310129/7bf230b1-f162-4080-967d-104572029552)\n\n### **Let’s Talk About Grid-Scale Batteries…**\n\n**What’s Happening**\n\nThe U.S. is deploying batteries in the grid at an insane pace, but managing them is unlike any other power asset:\n\n* They don’t make their own power\n* They don’t have contracts for selling power at a fixed price\n\nBattery storage assets are constantly buying and selling power at dynamic prices, and doing that well or poorly leads to massive differences in project returns. With every new battery and renewable energy system added to the grid, though, the right thing to do shifts. Looking at planned battery additions across nearly every ISO, we can see that changes to grid dynamics will only be intensifying.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68703&key=user_uploads/310129/2997b0e7-f7be-4efa-8f8a-4ab56d9462fd)\n\n**How Our Product Handles This**\n\nRather than rely on human experience or hard-coded instructions, we make AI that learns the best way to buy and sell power specific to each battery asset – all on its own. This type of AI is called Reinforcement Learning, and it’s a paradigm shift in how we optimize hardware systems. Our product builds on the founding team’s years of experience with RL-based battery controls and optimization in the EV space.\n\nYou can read more about our technology here: <https://www.keelinglabs.com/technology>\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68703&key=user_uploads/310129/dd18161f-2f67-49d8-8f32-0f4cbc2b3cc8)\n\n### **One ask**\n\nWe’re looking for tech-forward industry partners to work with us as we develop an amazing product. If you have connections to the following groups, we’d love the introductions!\n\n* asset managers / battery owners\n* utilities\n\nFeel free to send me a DM on LinkedIn to get in touch: <https://www.linkedin.com/in/jackogrady/>\n\n### **Quick Links:**\n\nWebsite: [https://www.keelinglabs.com](https://www.keelinglabs.com/)\n\nContact Us: <https://www.keelinglabs.com/contact-us>\n\nJoin Our Team: <https://www.keelinglabs.com/join-our-team>",

"body": "### **Tl;dr**\n\n[Line](https://www.line.build/?utm_source=YCLaunch&utm_medium=post) empowers contractors with tools that make building decarbonization projects affordable for their customers and boosts conversion rates. We consolidate the thousands of rebates, incentives, and green financing options for energy efficiency upgrades, and make it easy for contractors to secure funding for their customers.\n\n**We’re looking for intros to HVAC installers and electrification services for our pilot**. And if you’re thinking about getting a heat pump, we’d love to help you find and apply for rebates and other incentives. Get in touch at [founders@line.build](mailto:founders@line.build)\n\n### **The Problem**\n\nWith buildings accounting for almost 40% of US GHG emissions, retrofitting for efficiency is essential to reduce emissions and load on the grid, but expensive. Over $80B of rebates, incentives and financing is available but hyper-fragmented across utilities, federal funds, grants, and green lending programs. Contractors are often responsible for helping consumers navigate this fragmented landscape - not only does their consumer demand it, but many sources of funding require it. This is leading to an increase in overhead, as they hire Ops teams and consultants to meet demand. Contractors that do not provide this service are seeing their conversion impacted, as consumers look to maximize savings. \n\n### **Our Solution**\n\nLine is a single source of truth for all available funding options. By providing a few pieces of information, such as project address and scope, contractors can easily access all available incentives and financing options available to their customer. Requirements are consolidated and distilled in a simple manner and we make suggestions that help contractors maximize savings for their customers. Maximized savings, means maximized conversion!\n\nOnce the customer is ready to proceed with the project, the contractor can leverage a common application to apply for all eligible programs. We remove the hassle of navigating multiple websites, printing documents, or mailing applications.\n\nOur platform is designed to be user-friendly, available in multiple languages, and accessible on both web and mobile devices. Additionally, we provide an API that seamlessly integrates with existing quoting tools, enhancing efficiency and convenience.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=72550&key=user_uploads/1432654/02e79c39-4134-4f77-bff2-286ca21bbd57)\n\n### **Our Backstory**\n\nDasha and Steph have worked on payments and risk management for the last 10+ years at companies such as Airbnb, Plaid, Stripe, Asana, Gusto, and Google. We couldn’t think of a bigger risk than climate change, and wanted to find ways to help accelerate the transition to a greener and more energy efficient economy. We learned that cost is a big barrier to deploying technology such as heat pumps. We knew that funds such as utility rebates were available, but were surprised at how hard the process of discovering and applying for them is – so we decided to help solve that! \n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=72550&key=user_uploads/1432654/96e73cbe-5f05-4084-b4bc-890df449174a)\n\n### **Ask: How you can help**\n\n* Connect us to contractors such as HVAC installers, residential solar companies, electricians or whole home electrification contractors to try out our pilot\n * _quick blurb to copy & paste:_ [Line](https://www.line.build/?utm_source=YCLaunch&utm_medium=post) is a new tool that creates a single source of truth for all available funding options for home energy efficiency projects. They help access sources of funds to reduce project cost and increase conversion. Check them out at [www.line.build](http://www.line.build) or get in touch at [founders@line.build](mailto:founders@line.build)\n* Are you thinking about a home project such as getting a new hot water heater or heat pump? We’d be keen to help you get any rebates or incentives (email us at [founders@line.build](mailto:founders@line.build))\n* Intros to companies that build other contractor tooling such as quoting or invoicing.\n\n ",

A GW facility requires a staggering $10-20 billion investment before purchasing any servers or switches.\n\n**🔌 Power:** \n\nPower capacity is the primary constraint in building new data centers. Real estate with high-power infrastructure and power availability is extremely high in demand.\n\n**💧 Water:**\n\nSince water usage doesn’t affect net-zero carbon goals, most hyperscalers prioritize energy efficiency by using water-intensive evaporative cooling systems. This approach is facing scrutiny, as evidenced by [Google's recent permit](https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/chile-partially-pulls-google-data-center-permit-seeks-tougher-environmental-2024-02-27/) issues in Chile. \n\n# **Solution: 🌊**\n\n**Underwater data centers.** \n\n1. They’re cheaper to build than on-land data centers, significantly reducing costs in land, building, and cooling infrastructure. \n2. They’re also cheaper to operate, with up to 30% lower power consumption and no water consumption.\n\n \n\nOther benefits: \n\n* Co-location with offshore power\n* Speed to deployment\n* [1/8th](https://natick.research.microsoft.com/) Hardware failure rate\n* Low latency to coastal cities (<2ms to all of SF from the Bay)\n\n**Have others tried this?**\n\n[Microsoft, 2016](https://natick.research.microsoft.com/): was the first to experiment with underwater data centers. They built a proof-of-concept capsule that showcased promising efficiency metrics. Despite this, the project remained a research testbed, with limited investment in underwater infrastructure, maintenance operations, and scaled deployments. Microsoft has [officially retired](https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/microsoft-confirms-project-natick-underwater-data-center-is-no-more/) the project and is focused on expanding their existing on-land data centers.\n\n[China moving ahead](https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/china-deploys-1400-ton-commercial-underwater-data-center/): since Microsoft’s Project Natick, Highlander was awarded an $880M contract to build 100 data center capsules around Chinese port islands.\n\n**Team:**\n\n![](https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXfAwb2H9E-6BWAIJYVyJGPhF9OyzSH1nggJFj_GHMHJH00EvwbnxMioApVY6CLejRHT7McsVvhSF8Q3KAK9TDivKfuFsqqJpn9p92DW6Fr16h6ThEcRmkGVex_WN-pnPwGmOd5DpvOpEIWl6y23boXBTaM?key=MO98a9JpAng3q9fJmJYqcg)\n\n[_Sam Mendel_](https://linkedin.com/in/sammendel2000) _and _[_Eric Kim_](https://linkedin.com/in/yekime)_, co-founders of **NetworkOcean**_\n\nSam and Eric met through robotics in 9th grade and worked together building underwater MHD generators throughout high school. "body": "**We’re Rewbi!**\n\n**Rewbi uses AI to optimize grid-connected battery storage.** We generate revenue by charging batteries when electricity is cheap and discharging when electricity is expensive.\n\nWe rent battery storage for a fixed fee per month, and we earn **more than double** that fee in monthly revenue by dispatching the battery optimally.\n\nToday, power companies use human traders to manually track grid conditions and update the battery’s dispatch schedule. However, batteries can adjust their power output **100x faster** than traditional power generation (e.g., hydro, coal, nuclear, gas), with the ability to go from full-speed charging to full-speed discharging in under a minute. **Electricity prices change every 5 minutes, often by 300% or more.** Our AI better tracks 100s of live inputs, and it makes decisions faster than a human operator (with lower overhead), **more than doubling revenue**.\n\nSince starting YC, we’ve joined ERCOT (the Texas grid operator) as a registered power company.\n\n**Our Team**\n\n[Thomas](https://linkedin.com/in/thomas-marge) has built battery dispatch (and wind farm optimization) solutions for the past 8 years, including as founder of inBalance (YCW21, acquired by Stem, Inc. in January of 2023). [Derek](https://linkedin.com/in/derekmod) wrote his first commodity trading and risk management algorithm for a fund when he was 18, and he was the first technical hire at Adept - his models were used to raise over $400m. We’ve known each other for a decade - we met working together on grad level math courses as freshmen at Hopkins.\n\n**Asks**\n\nWe would love to speak with battery storage developers - message us at <https://www.rewbi.com/contact> or email us at [founders@rewbi.com](mailto:founders@rewbi.com)!\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83622&key=user_uploads/89898/0f214291-26b7-4259-a61d-55904a9d8616)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83622&key=user_uploads/89898/503ce453-7532-40ea-b307-9e0f0c5827b3)\n\n",

"body": "Astro uses AI to find and buy land for new renewable energy projects, secure agreements to connect them to the power grid at minimal costs, and then sell these development-ready projects to larger energy companies.\n\n**The Problem**\\\nThe renewable energy transition faces a critical bottleneck: the US needs to add 2,000 gigawatts of new power generation by 2035 to support growing electricity demand from AI data centers and electrification.  Building these new power plants requires finding suitable land and connecting them to the grid - but this is where projects fail. Most potential locations are unprofitable because developers discover too late that they need to spend millions upgrading power lines and infrastructure for grid connection. Traditional energy developers spend months evaluating single locations, only to have projects die when they discover these hidden costs.\n\n**The Solution**\\\nAstro’s proprietary AI models predict these grid connection costs upfront, enabling it to buy the most profitable land before costs increase. Astro’s models handle all the early development work - from finding the right location to securing grid connection agreements - creating a pipeline of development-ready projects that larger energy companies can immediately start building.\n\n**Backstory**\\\nI’m Alex, I studied physics + computer science at Stanford and was an energy trader at Citadel. While trading energy markets, I discovered that power grid congestion patterns are highly predictable - but developers aren’t using this data. This insight led me to build models that identify the best land to buy and prepare for larger developers to build on.\n\n**Ask**\\\nWe’re looking to connect with:\n\n* Energy companies interested in buying development-ready projects (land secured + grid connection approved)\n* Landowners and brokers near major transmission lines in central Illinois\n* Power systems engineers with interconnection study experience\n\nIf you’re interested in accelerating the clean energy transition or have expertise in any of these areas, I’d love to chat! We can produce Titanium, Magnesium, Aluminum, Zirconium & Hafnium in the U.S. more profitably than any existing process, and carbon neutrally. On track to supply 12% of U.S. magnesium by 2029, at 50%+ EBITDA margins (@ world’s lowest mkt prices).**\n\nHi all, we’re Berkley and Brenden of Duranium, and we’re delivering American critical mineral independence with a light-weight metal production process that competes globally without subsidies. As brothers-in-law, we’re passionate about rebuilding the U.S. industrial base — not through taxes and subsidies, but through real technological innovation. Our mission is to help America reclaim its place as the world’s greatest builder of _tangible_ things.\n\n# ❌ The Problem\n\nMagnesium, titanium, aluminum, hafnium, and zirconium are all listed on the DOE’s Critical Minerals List, with magnesium ranked among the highest in both supply risk and strategic importance to U.S. energy security. _The U.S. has zero domestic magnesium production and no titanium sponge production — yet both are indispensable for fighter jets, missiles, satellites, rockets, and advanced aerospace systems._ \n\nChina and Russia control \\~97% of magnesium and \\~90% of titanium production (directly or indirectly). \n\nOn top of that, U.S. magnesium costs nearly 3x the global average, and legacy methods are CO₂-intensive and waste valuable byproducts.\n\n# ✨ Our Solution\n\nWe’ve modernized carbochlorination metallurgy (the primary methods for producing many of these critical metals) with a novel reactor and process that:\n\n* Creates a closed-loop system that profitably matches Chinese pricing — without subsidies — and slashes emissions\n* Recycles CO₂ emissions into CO feedstock\n* Generates a valuable co-product (bleaching agents)\n\nOthers are trying to reinvent lightweight metal production from scratch with approaches that are costly and dependent on government subsidies or green premiums to hit profitability. Our approach is different: we harness the laws of thermodynamics instead of fighting them, co-producing valuable outputs that make the economics best-in-class.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=93706&key=user_uploads/2509424/38fd63f0-e5a7-4f91-88cf-ad06c8b7e01a)\n\n# 🏆 What we’ve achieved so far and where we’re headed\n\n* We’ve proven the process at benchtop scale, producing magnesium, bleaching agents, and converting CO₂ produced by carbochlorination into CO\n* We are now scaling with the build of a pilot facility to be operational by June 2026\n* We’re on track to supply 12% of U.S. magnesium by 2029, at 50%+ EBITDA margins (@ world’s lowest mkt prices)\n\n# 👥 Our Team\n\nBerkley, CTO — A leading American expert in magnesium production; holds a patent for an electrochemical metal cell and built the _only_ U.S. pilot magnesium electrolyzer in the last 20+ years. Brings unmatched technical depth in lightweight metal production\n\nBrenden, CEO — Former McKinsey D.C. consultant, where he advised the DoD on reshoring critical chemical production and spent 1 year with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Ex-Goldman TMT investment banker, Stanford Law graduate and Knight-Hennessy Scholar\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=93706&key=user_uploads/2509424/babe8628-8537-44c5-aa1a-daecb483c077)\n\n## 🙏 Asks\n\nJoin our team! We’re looking for engineers with experience in high-temperature or corrosive reactors. If that’s you — or someone you know — and you want to help build the future of lightweight metal production, get in touch!\n\n[team@duranium.co](mailto:team@duranium.co)",

We're starting with clearing overcast clouds above utility-scale solar farms to increase their annual generation by 10–30% with no new infrastructure. Our long-term goal is to scale this system to weaken severe storms and hurricanes. First large-scale cloud clearing flight in 2027 and first storm flight in 2028.\n\nHey everyone! We’re [Mete](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mete-karslioglu) and [Eric](https://www.linkedin.com/in/eric-nilsson-2b3775254), and we’re building drones to engineer clouds.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=111583&key=user_uploads/2005935/5c79de40-e828-4e83-aff5-e1ae0feb3dc4)\n\n⚡ **Starting with solar**\n\nAI has created an enormous demand for power, and solar is scaling exponentially. [US utility-scale solar capacity is set to double by 2030](https://cleanpower.org/resources/market-pulse-utility-scale-solar-summer-2026), and [the world will add 2+ TW](https://www.iea.org/reports/renewables-2025/renewable-electricity) over the same period.\n\nBut building new capacity is getting harder and less profitable. Only [\\~14% of US utility-scale solar projects](https://emp.lbl.gov/queues) actually get built and [773 GW is already waiting in interconnection queues](https://emp.lbl.gov/queues). \n\nAt the same time, generation costs are rising as tax credits are overhauled and tariffs increase material prices. This makes each additional MWh generated from an existing plant more valuable.\n\n[Low and mid-level overcast clouds cut incoming sunlight by 73–82%](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0038092X80903916) while they’re overhead. We recover that without building new infrastructure. \n\n🌤 **What we're building**\n\nFleets of 10s-100s of autonomous drones that fly into low and mid-altitude clouds (1–5 km) over a solar farm and alter the water droplets that form them without using any chemicals. This reduces their reflectivity and brings back measurable amounts of sunlight to the panels below.\n\nOur cloud-loss model shows that this process can increase annual generation from existing assets by 10–30% across major US grid regions, worth \\~$5,000–28,000/MW, without building any new infrastructure.\n\n⚙️ **Traction**\n\n* Built a working prototype that dissipated an artificial cloud by 13% in cloud-chamber tests\n* Built a cloud-loss model that quantifies how much generation a given US solar plant is losing to the clouds we can treat\n\n👉 **Why now**\n\n* Cloud access got \\~97% cheaper: conventional seeding aircrafts cost $2,000+/hr; electric drones are at $30–60/hr. \n* AI is transforming weather forecasting: DeepMind's weather models produce [15-day forecasts in less than a minute](https://deepmind.google/blog/weathernext-ai-model-achieves-breakthrough-in-forecasting-cyclones/) and [outperform traditional physics-based models on more than 90% of benchmarks](https://developers.google.com/weathernext/guides/evals).\n\n🎯 **Weakening storms and hurricanes**\n\nOur ultimate goal is to reduce the intensity of severe storms and hurricanes.\n\nSevere weather has already cost the US [$31.9B in the first half of 2026](https://www.climatecentral.org/climate-services/billion-dollar-disasters), and from 2020 to 2024 severe storms, floods, and tropical cyclones caused [an average of \\~$121B/yr in losses](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/billions/summary-stats). Severe storms alone generated [$50B+/yr in insured losses for the past three years](https://www.iii.org/press-release/triple-i-severe-convective-storms-generate-more-than-50b-in-insured-losses-for-third-consecutive-year-041326). There's now [a billion-dollar weather disaster every 16 days vs. every 82 days in the 1980s](https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/billions/climatology).\n\nGlobally, these disasters caused [over $2T in damage in the past decade](https://iccwbo.org/news-publications/policies-reports/new-report-extreme-weather-events-cost-economy-2-trillion-over-the-last-decade) and claimed [more than 2 million lives in the past 50 years](https://news.un.org/en/story/2023/05/1136897). \n\nClearing stable overcast clouds is our first major technical milestone. It will prove we can reliably alter clouds at scale. From there, we’ll expand our fleets and control systems to reduce the intensity of severe storms and hurricanes. First storm operation targeted for late 2028.\n\n👥 **Team**\n\nWe're two Cambridge engineers with backgrounds in weather engineering and droplet-control systems:\n\nMete (CEO): Master's research on making clouds more reflective using seawater spray nozzles at the Cambridge Centre for Climate Repair (funded by ARIA, UK's DARPA). MEng from Cambridge in aerospace/aerothermal, energy, and mechanical engineering.\n\nEric (CTO): Master's research on microfluidic chips that control water, and built droplet-removal technology for LiDAR lenses. MEng from Cambridge in electrical, control, and computer engineering. Placed 4th nationally in the British Physics Challenge.\n\n🙏 **We'd love to hear from you if you:**\n\n* work in disaster response or severe weather at the state or federal level (FEMA, state EMs, NOAA, NWS)\n* run hail suppression programs (North Dakota, Texas, Alberta)\n* own, manage, build, or operate utility-scale solar plants (especially in Texas, northern US, UK, or northern Europe)\n* work in weather modelling / meteorology / atmospheric science (especially in hurricane or storm research)\n* are engineers with experience in drones or high-voltage systems / power electronics\n\nReach us at [team@meteoric.earth](mailto:team@meteoric.earth)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=111583&key=user_uploads/2005935/c0a9ce1e-492d-4687-8c6d-4d53a7bf67b2)\n\n",
