[James](https://www.linkedin.com/in/james0thomas/) and [Cyriel](https://www.linkedin.com/in/cyriel-notteboom/) here to introduce [Radical](https://www.radicalaero.com/)!\n\nRadical makes high altitude solar-powered aircraft. Our aircraft are able to fly continuously in the stratosphere without landing. They provide an inexpensive, zero-emissions way to connect and observe earth like never before.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68187&key=user_uploads/1045182/65f89115-af17-4432-ae79-3fcbeb7b2bc5)\n\n### **Why Solar aircraft?**\n\nOur aircraft is designed to fly over specific areas for months, carrying various payloads for tasks like imagery, sensing, and telecommunications. What we’re building behaves like a drone in some ways, and like a satellite in other ways. Much like satellites, we’re able to provide service for long periods of time, but we’re also much closer to users (we fly at around 70,000 ft / 20 km altitude) and able to maneuver or remain over an area of interest. This makes what we’re building really well suited to applications that require continuous coverage or high-resolution/bandwidth data. Applications include:\n\n* Providing cell service or internet coverage\n* Aerial imagery and mapping\n* Meteorology and atmospheric sensing\n* Emergency response\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=68187&key=user_uploads/1045182/893208ea-fa0f-46bc-9dc7-b93042439b94)\n\n### **How it works**\n\nOur aircraft is battery electric and driven by propellers. It has a large wing for high aerodynamic efficiency and to generate the necessary lift required to fly in the thin air of the stratosphere. The wing is covered in solar cells, during the day, these power the aircraft and charge its batteries. Through the night, battery energy is deployed to continue flight. We repeat this process daily, enabling us to fly for many months without needing to land. Ultimately, battery cycle life is what limits our aircraft’s flight endurance - and we can land, carry out simple maintenance tasks and then re-launch to continue flying.\n\n### **Ask**\n\nWe’re hiring and working with customers! If you’re interested in making use of this technology or working on challenging physics technology then get in touch!",

"tagline": "We help aerospace engineers rapidly design, test, and simulate control systems",
"body": "### **TL;DR**\n\n[Elodin](https://www.elodin.systems) helps aerospace engineers rapidly design, test, and simulate control systems. For example, an engineer could use our Python physics toolkit, which automatically optimizes physics computations for GPU computing, to test a new satellite control system in minutes instead of hours.\n\n---\n\nHello everyone! We’re [Dan](https://linkedin.com/in/x46085), [Sascha](https://linkedin.com/in/sascha-wise), [Andrei](https://linkedin.com/in/andrei-khvalko), [Tom](https://linkedin.com/in/tomgurka), and [Akhil](https://www.linkedin.com/in/akhil-velagapudi/) from [Elodin](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/company/29381). \n\nDrawing experience from roles at AstroForge, Google, Salesforce, Spatial, and several startups. We discovered that the rapid iteration in cloud software was missing in the field of aerospace, so we were compelled to make the development experience better.\n\n---\n\n### **Problem**\n\nIf you want to build an autonomous drone today, you've only got a few options when it comes to testing.\n\n* You can write your control system, flash it to your flight computer, launch the drone, and watch it crash over and over again. \n* You can agonize over setting up a complex simulation using MATLAB, Gazebo, or something homegrown.\n\nThose choices are time-consuming, complex, and costly.\n\nNow, imagine you are building a satellite or an eVTOL aircraft; you have no choice but to set up a complicated simulation.\n\n---\n\n### **Solution**\n\nHow does Elodin prevent this complexity?\\\n**We don’t; we just do it for you.**\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=77547&key=user_uploads/1618322/9f285018-486c-4602-adb3-43297bf75961)\n\nCongrats! You can now simulate your drone's control system easily, but that's not enough. What if a massive windstorm comes around? What if the neighborhood dog decides to take a bite out of one of the propellers? You need to test your control system for any situation you can imagine.\n\n**Enter** - [Monte Carlo Testing](https://aws.amazon.com/what-is/monte-carlo-simulation/#:\\~:text=The%20Monte%20Carlo%20simulation%20is,on%20a%20choice%20of%20action.)\n\nMonte Carlo testing is when you run a simulation multiple times with randomized initial conditions. For example, you could run your simulation with randomized wind speeds.\n\nElodin makes running Monte Carlo simulations seamless, through our cloud platform. We let you run 100,000s of simultaneous simulations right from the comfort of your laptop. \n\nOur dream is that you run a full Monte Carlo test of your control system every time you push code to GitHub. Historically, this would be very costly and difficult to achieve.\n\n---\n\n### **What Elodin is**\n\n🐍 **Python physics library** - A toolkit for building custom physics engines using the GPU, imagine Tensorflow, but for Physics\n\n🎲 **Monte Carlo Cloud Runner** - A cloud runner that enables you to run your simulation in a scalable Monte Carlo fashion\n\n🌎 **3D Viewer** - A live-reloading 3d viewer to share, inspect, and analyze your simulations\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=77547&key=user_uploads/1618322/d2e5c348-a7f8-47c4-8522-1025a8d966dc)\n\n**Try out our Alpha!** We have an early alpha sandbox prototype that showcases the real-time editing experience of Elodin but does not include our customizable physics engine or Monte Carlo support.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=77547&key=user_uploads/1618322/effd2707-d83b-4dc4-9c1f-deea7f65fb74)\n\n---\n\n### **Our Asks**\n\n**Reach Out:** If you work with drones, satellites, or anything else with a control system, [schedule a call with our CEO, Dan](https://calendly.com/dan-elodin/30min), to discover how Elodin can streamline your design and testing processes\n\n**Share Your Insights:** We value your perspective! If you have any feedback or suggestions, we'd love to hear from you. Your insights are crucial to shaping the future of Elodin.\n\n**Connect Us:** Even if Elodin is not the perfect fit for your needs, you may know someone who could benefit from our platform. "body": "![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/a1856391-04dc-473d-92dd-9ad6c8a8cb95)\n\nSix months ago we did a hackathon, this month we sold to SOCOM. Our Visual Navigation System (VNS) uses cameras, an inertial measurement unit, and pre-loaded satellite imagery to determine it’s position and send a fake GPS signal to any drone. Integrations typically take <30min.\n\n### How It Started\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/3f680d0f-91e3-4f9e-bf5f-212a076df8fa)\n\nIn February, [Carl](https://www.linkedin.com/in/carlscho) was a Senior at Stanford, [Sacha](https://linkedin.com/in/sacha-levy) was a PhD student at Yale, and [Ian](https://linkedin.com/in/ian-laffey-943200247) was working with a British celebrity. After our post went viral, we spent weeks talking with troops on the ground, drone manufacturers, and DoD.\n\nWe learned that:\n\n\\- The front lines of Ukraine are 100% GPS-denied\n\n\\- Cheap, DIY drones are extremely effective but typically rely on GPS\n\n\\- Existing GPS alternatives are extremely heavy and extremely expensive\n\nWe set out to create a low-cost, low-weight replacement for GPS that works with any drone.\n\n### How It’s Going\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/edd612ed-a0d4-421d-afe4-36931183b93f)\n\nOur first customer in the Special Forces has enabled us to push our VNS to its limits, and the results have been impressive. Here are a few excerpts from a memorandum written by the Captain we work with:\n\n_“Having tested the Theseus’ VizNav system for a week, I am convinced that their technology presents the best solution for a current, and ever-expanding urgent operational need.”_\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/edd4eb3e-a568-4519-84a8-de2020556437)\n\n_“As a company, Theseus has shown a willingness to seek the ground truth from the operator and make improvements based on these recommendations immediately. The progress they have made with limited funding gives me incredible confidence that they act quicker and more efficiently than any other vendors we have worked with.”_\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/7fe82322-4001-49c7-b9ab-255c2a9174d6)\n\nDue to the sensitive nature of our product, technical details and customer-specific information in this post will be limited. We are happy to discuss results in more detail privately.\n\n### Going Forward\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/5acb4bc0-1658-47f2-83ef-38d0dd6d3601)\n\nAmerica is way behind. The current demand for drones in Ukraine is 1-2 million yearly. Every country in the world sees this and is in the process of building out its arsenal. Our product affordably enables an entirely new capability set for every one of these platforms.\n\nWe have sold units to multiple customers, have six-figure LOIs from large drone manufacturers, integrations scheduled, and eight figures in funding for our VNS requested by the DoD for FY25.\n\nThe West needs to build millions of drones, and all of those drones need Theseus.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=83768&key=user_uploads/1290514/3f997243-9cf5-4868-9a58-fda72313a613)\n\n",

We’re [**John**](https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-huddleston-3584121b7/) (engineer and unmanned systems expert) and [**Dante**](https://www.linkedin.com/in/dante-vaisbort/) (repeat defense founder). [**Albacore Inc.**](https://www.albacore.inc/) is building the next generation of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) to prevent maritime invasions. Our first product is **Ghostfin:** a 6-foot-long autonomous underwater vehicle that can patrol over 1,000 nautical miles undetected and massively damage hostile watercraft.\n\n[**https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ6SYgIsDQs**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ6SYgIsDQs)\n\n### [**🏴‍☠️**](https://emojipedia.org/pirate-flag) The Problem: America doesn’t have any long-range underwater strike weapons.\n\nIn the case of an Indo-Pacific conflict, our military’s existing suite of autonomous underwater vehicles is woefully unprepared. Today’s unmanned underwater vehicles are short-range, expensive, and overly mission-specific. Unlike the Ukrainians or even the Houthis, America doesn’t have underwater vehicles built for attack missions in service.\n\n### **🚀 Our Solution: Low-cost autonomous underwater vehicles that can travel 10x further.**\n\nRange is the key constraint in massive bodies of water like the Pacific Ocean. The Albacore team has spent years working on power technology and manufacturing for unmanned systems, and can build Ghostfin far more efficiently than anything on the market today by using a combination of highly scalable in-house-designed and off-the-shelf components.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=92587&key=user_uploads/2629924/1f9c199a-487c-4de0-848e-94ae31db9ba6)\n\n### 👥 **Our Team:**\n\n**John Huddleston, Co-Founder:** John is a mechanical engineer who spent 3 years at the Boston Consulting Group advising government agencies and Fortune 500 companies in the defense industrial base. He worked on >$9b in unmanned systems manufacturing and procurement efforts alongside senior military leadership.\n\n**Dante Vaisbort, Co-Founder:** Dante is a second-time founder in defense, who has won and led more than >$10m in DoD contract efforts for his first company, Haylon Technologies, which builds power technology for autonomous systems and is still active.\n\nWe also have an incredible engineering team hailing from Lockheed Martin, Johnson & Johnson etc. who have won underwater vehicle competitions and have a combined 20 years experience on space flight technology, autonomous vehicle AI, medical robotics, and robosubs.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=92587&key=user_uploads/2629924/550044dc-1333-486f-8877-384a1270c501)\n\n### **😇 Our Ask:**\n\nPlease reach out to us if you can help us deliver solutions to the Navy, Special Operations Forces, intelligence community, or allied foreign militaries. If you know any commercial entities who may want this, that’s great too!\n\nStay tuned for us to blow stuff up in the next one. Enjoy a mosquito-free life for just $50/month (if you save your spot **right now for just $100**)!\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDa9pFzeJvE\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=95287&key=user_uploads/1250342/2697e87e-51cb-405e-bf8b-e4446880f4cc)\n\n# How it started\n\nAlex has been passionate about ultrasonic sonars for a while, building [one of the first air-gapped ultrasonic phased array sonars.](https://www.alextoussaint.com/2021-04-28_How-I-built-an-ultrasonic-3d-scanner.html) Alex then worked at MBDA Systems, supplier of UK-FR missiles where he did outstanding work in navigation and control. That’s when long-time friend [@Clovis Piedallu](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/user/2515354) and him had the (at first) stupid idea of building mosquito-killing drones. After proving from napkin math that this could lead to mosquito eradication, we got a $28k grant from [Scott Alexander, Vitalik Buterin](https://manifund.org/projects/build-anti-mosqu) and [some big twitter buzz.](https://x.com/alextoussss/status/1778460625196261863) Since, we’ve made enormous strides in the field including the first detection and tracking of a mosquito with an ultrasonic phased array, plus some fancy algorithms which are detailed more [here](https://hackaday.com/2025/03/25/supercon-2024-killing-mosquitoes-with-freaking-drones-and-sonar). We’ve made a lot of progress since in the control department, but can’t share much more without nuking an ongoing patent. The TLDR of that is **we believe we can eradicate mosquitoes from a square kilometer of land with just 10 40-grams drones, slashing the cost of mosquito control by 100x**\n\n# The tech, with a few more details\n\nWe send an ultrasonic pulse using a regular ultrasonic transmitter (the one you can find in the HC-SR04 arduino modules, or on cark park assist sensors) then listen for the echoes using an array of smartphone microphones. This phased array of smartphone microphone allows us to get a directional recording of all echoes in the scene. To classify the echoes, we plot a spectrogram of the echoes as a function of time. Whenever a mosquito beats its wings, the movement produces irregular doppler effect. By measuring that alternating doppler effect, we get a 2D image that’s unique to each mosquito. We then detect the species and sex of the target we have in front of us. Here’s what these signatures look like.\n\n**Wasp (phase, STFT, FFT)**\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=95287&key=user_uploads/1250342/e34717d5-91b3-435f-b7b3-33eacfa00d77)\n\n**Mosquito (phase, STFT, FFT)**\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=95287&key=user_uploads/1250342/21bf0588-a122-48c8-9a62-60426d8e7b94)\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=95287&key=user_uploads/1250342/8bb71855-e1f9-4ea0-922f-06da6690c1c5)\n\nOur phased array sonar (Xilinx XC7A100T and 380 PDM Microphones). We’ve miniaturized it since.\n\nThen, by using some very clever control algorithms, we ram our autonomous tinywhoop into the mosquitoes and away from the walls.\n\n# Our current development status\n\nMost systems are working in isolation, and we’re doing a push to have them all working together. Our miniaturized DSP+Controls processor is currently in the PCB factory, and all algorithms have been tested either on separate benches or in simulation. We’re currently killing mosquitoes in simulation, and are working hard to kill them in the real world.\n\n# Asks\n\nMosquitoes are a terrible problem worldwide **700k people killed each year, 700M catching a mosquito-borne disease and 4 billion people at risk of Dengue**.\n\nWe’re looking for early adopters for who mosquitoes are a big nuisance to proof-test our first drones when they work before we deploy them to areas where failure’s not an option. If that sounds like you, please pre-order and enjoy all the perks (limited edition color, 30% discount) that come from our small $100 refundable reservation.\n\n# CTA\n\n[tornyol.com](http://tornyol.com): $100 refundable deposit to get exclusive, early and discounted acess to our solution.\n\n[founders@tornyol.com](mailto:founders@tornyol.com):\\_for any contacts to big businesses, government entities and NGOs who could be clients.\n\nLooking forward to your questions!\n\n[Clovis Piedallu](https://www.linkedin.com/in/clovispiedallu/) and [Alex Toussaint](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alex-toussaint-51a439189/) for a mosquito-free world.",

"body": "# **Hey everyone**\n\nWe’re Alex & Matthew - The brothers building **Seeing Systems**.\n\n---\n\n## **TL;DR**\n\nWe're building **inexpensive, autonomous strike drones** designed to stay operationally relevant as warfare evolves. By combining true hardware modularity with an agentic control system that lowers cognitive load on operators, we enable faster upgrades, broader adoption, and more than 2x reduction in lifecycle cost.\n\nOur customers and partners include the UK Royal Marine Commandos, several other units in the UK, and 4 other NATO forces, and we are currently shipping prototypes to Ukraine for iterative feedback.\n\n<https://youtu.be/Ia_A1T-l7d8>\n\n## **Problem**\n\nMilitary forces face two linked challenges:\n\n1. **Platform Obsolescence:** Fixed drones require replacement or major rebuilds whenever missions or threats evolve, driving high costs and slowing operational adaptation.\n2. **The One Pilot Problem:** One person can only control one drone at once, requiring full attention.\n\nCountless stories can be found of western drone systems becoming obsolete, needing to be shelved and eventually replaced.\n\nA Few Examples:\n\n* <https://newsukraine.rbc.ua/news/ukraine-s-military-rejects-german-helsing-1768811354.html>\n* <https://militarnyi.com/en/news/ssu-abandons-altius-attack-drones-after-failures-at-front/>\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=97412&key=user_uploads/2822007/9dfb1275-b59e-4c17-9862-3a9d8a11534d)\n\n# **Solution**\n\nWe build autonomous, modular drones that solve both problems at once:\n\n* **Modular hardware:** Swappable payloads, sensors, compute, and comms let one platform support strike, ISR, or swarm missions. Upgradable and effective year after year.\n* **Agentic autonomy:** Automates tasks like navigation and coordination, so operators with no prior training can use systems to their full effectiveness.\n\nHow do we know? Well, Forward Deployed Engineers. Giving each unit we work with a point of contact, we take feedback and integrate them into our system in a matter of hours. A close collaboration with the UK Royal Marines Commandos is actually what led to the development of this system.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=97412&key=user_uploads/2822007/7170ca7a-bd1d-4d2b-a6a7-f77ce762975e)\n\n## **The Team**\n\n**Matthew Le Maitre - Co-Founder, Software**\n\nFormer Jane Street Software Engineer and top-ranked CS graduate from the University of Cambridge. Matthew’s path started at the Mobile Robotics Lab at Cambridge, where he worked on autonomous systems and context-aware drones. He now leads the software side of Seeing Systems.\n\n**Alex Le Maitre - Co-Founder, Hardware**\n\nAlex has been obsessed with unmanned systems since childhood and is largely self-taught in embedded electronics, firmware, and PCB design. He has previously designed Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) training and diagnostic hardware for military users, alongside projects with national-security implications. Originally from the island of Guernsey, Alex now leads hardware development with a focus on building robust systems that help keep our people safe.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=97412&key=user_uploads/2822007/dfc9b55c-c1b7-4ac3-a6bb-8e7760b2d006)\n\nIf you’re a military contractor, defense organisation or special forces unit looking for a real operational edge, contact us at [founders@seeing-systems.com](mailto:founders@seeing-systems.com) &[ www.seeing-systems.com](http://www.seeing-systems.com)",

"body": "**TL;DR** - Ranchers can spend hundreds of thousands per year moving cattle between fields. GrazeMate builds autonomous drone software to guide cattle - doing the work of helicopters and motorbikes with AI that understands animal behaviour.\n\n<https://youtu.be/sIrM29ziVNU>\n\n**❌ The problem**\n\nI'm Sam. I grew up on my family's cattle station in Australia, where we move cattle on motorbikes, helicopters, and horseback. It took hours each day and >$100k/year.\n\nIn the US, ranches spend anywhere from $10k–$1M per year and hours each day moving cattle just to keep them on fresh grass. It's expensive, risky, and hard to staff.\n\n**✅ The solution**\n\nGrazeMate's autonomous drones herd your cattle for you. What could take teams a full day now takes three clicks from a phone.\n\nOur system:\n\n* Finds your herd and guides them calmly to the next pasture\n* Uses AI that reads animal behaviour and applies pressure like an experienced stockman\n* Learns how your cattle respond and improves with every move\n\nWhy ranchers are switching:\n\n* More frequent moves → Better grazing, pasture use, and stocking rates\n* More affordable than traditional methods\n* Hours of herding → seconds on a phone\n* Real-time weight estimates, pasture data, and infrastructure insights\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=97388&key=user_uploads/2933487/a7e07817-bfde-4784-90ab-e4f9d16579b8)\n\n**🤠 Why us**\n\nMy family runs 6,000 head. I dropped out of robotics at University of Sydney after seeing both the challenges with modern ranching, and the capacity robotics has to help. Our team combines PhDs and engineers who grew up on ranches.\n\n**🙏 Our ask**\n\nWe're onboarding early partners. We’d be extremely grateful for introductions to:\n\n* Large grazing operations (US and beyond)\n* Ranch managers exploring rotational grazing\n* Industry leaders, cattle agents, feedlots, processors\n\nAnd if that’s you, schedule a demo on grazemate.com, or contact me at [sam@grazemate.com](mailto:sam@grazemate.com). I’d love to chat!",

Propellers are **loud**\n2. They don’t blend in; they’re **visually obvious**\n\nThis makes traditional fixed-wing and quadcopter drones extremely detectable, and inadvertently easy to shoot down and run away from.\n\n<https://youtu.be/ByrhebaiNGw>\n\n---\n\nThis isn’t new. The U.S. used to lead flapping-wing flight, but **today, Europe and China are far ahead. Ornadyne is bringing the U.S. back into the lead.**\n\nWe're building autonomous ornithopters with hour-class flight times, low acoustic signatures, and natural bird-like flight. This makes Ornadyne's drones harder for humans and counter-UAS systems to detect, classify, and target.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=100617&key=user_uploads/1504179/a361939c-74a4-427b-a2ef-a96f6cdc2884)\n\n---\n\n### The Founders:\n\n**Geourg’s** Master's thesis is built on 2+ years of research and development in flapping-wing drones. His work has received multiple awards through AIAA and IEEE conference publications. He is ex- NASA JPL, and ex-Astrolab, where he worked on Mars and lunar missions.\n\n**Armen** engineered Starship components at SpaceX and previously led machining at USC Rocket Propulsion Laboratory, helping the team set the amateur rocketry altitude world record at 144 km.\n\nBoth founders have been best friends since middle school.\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=100617&key=user_uploads/1504179/60143f25-5da7-45dd-93a0-0be77f9c5b45)\n\n### Ask:\n\nIf you work in defense tech or are building in the space, we’d love to connect. Matthew’s built exquisite aerospace gear including Moon-regolith melters and ultra-precise guidance systems for the world’s foremost labs at NASA, Draper, and MIT. **Together we’re making one bet: America's rare-earth problem isn't a mining problem.**\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=110611&key=user_uploads/3652354/2046e9de-2db6-47e8-91fc-651e31e5a834)\n\n**Mass Magnetics’ unfair advantage is sitting in end-of-life electric vehicles, hard drives, and industrial equipment.** The team uses AI models and robotics trained on real scrap to sort metallurgy by exact grade and chemistry. Then, a rapid-sintering process takes that reclaimed mass to a finished magnet in 3 minutes, where conventional approaches take over 4 hours. The result is a magnet as strong as anything imported, with no radioactive footprint or bureaucratic permitting, fully compliant for US defense.\n\n**If you build robots, drones or motors visit our site and reach out at [outreach@massmagnetics.com](mailto:outreach@massmagnetics.com) and get your magnets.**\n\n![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=110611&key=user_uploads/3652354/797eff3c-6d9d-4ffc-894b-664aece1ba74)\n\n",

Park the cell next to anything you need to keep running: it detects an incoming threat, launches and physically neutralizes the incoming aerial threat. [www.impact-drones.com](http://www.impact-drones.com)\n\n**OUR LAUNCH VIDEO**\n\n<https://youtu.be/qLqx0dcpcGo>\n\n**TL;DR:** Half this batch is building AI agents. Your agents live in data centers. And these sites are now under threat. In March, drones took three AWS data centers offline in the Middle East and a dozen core cloud services with them. **Amazon lost 200 million USD in one day.** We sell a box you put next to anything you'd rather keep: an interceptor pierces its own lid, and the threat stops existing. We'll keep your agents running.\n\n**Why now:** The drone threat went industrial and air defense math didn't.\n\n**A single patriot missile costs more than 1m USD to shoot down a drone worth 30k USD.** Critical infrastructure needs a defense system that can be deployed at scale without losing the cost-per-interception battle.\n\n**What we're building:** a cell holding autonomous interceptors, always charged, always ready for when a threat arises. Unlike jamming, our system physically intercepts the threat. Unlike conventional air-defense systems, it is designed specifically for protecting civilian infrastructure affordably and at scale.\n\n**Why us:** two founders who ship hardware fast.\n\n[@Jasper Lortije](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/user/3245067): aerospace engineer (MSc at TU Delft), previously founded a Dutch company building GNSS-denied visual navigation for autonomous systems.\n\n[@Alessandro Fiume](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/user/3677968): sales and operations, ex Bloomberg, MSBA at Columbia.\n\n**Our ask:** intros to the people who own the airspace problem: data center security and infrastructure leads (hyperscalers and neoclouds especially, your uptime now has an air defense dependency), airport operations directors, and energy grid security teams. And if you're building agents: we're literally your uptime insurance, come say hi. The entire defense space is focused on building interceptors to shoot them down. While they’re treating the symptom, we’re going after the root cause: the drone stations. They’re hidden in bunkers, behind terrain, and fly the drones that kill our warfighters and civilians. Today, soldiers have no way to reliably geolocate operators on the battlefield.\n\nGreypoint Industries built LEGION, a drone swarm that identifies, geolocates, and tracks every emitter on the battlefield using the enemy’s own radio signals. "body": "**TL;DR:** We build autonomous interceptors that kill drones for less than the cost of the threat. Aeglos is in active operational use and has scored operational intercepts. The team has hundreds of confirmed combat intercepts. Looking for introductions to NATO-aligned air defence and C-UAS leads.\n\n<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZmj9NTDALo>\n\n**The problem**:\n\nAir defence economics are broken. A Patriot interceptor costs $3-7 million and is routinely used against $50,000 drones. Production rates of a few hundred units a year make these systems too scarce and too expensive for the volume of low-cost threats now in the air. They should be reserved for high-value targets.\n\nExactly like the Sherman tank versus the Tiger: it does not matter how good the system is if there are more threats than ammunition.\n\n**What we do**:\n\nAeglos is a high-speed autonomous interceptor designed end-to-end for the mass drone problem: airframe, autonomy software, and operator model. The operator clicks launch, then selects the intercept in software. No stage of flight requires a pilot and no flying experience is needed. One operator can control up to 64 interceptors. Engagement cost stays below the price of the drone being destroyed.\n\nMost C-UAS offerings are a single interceptor airframe. Operators still need skilled pilots, long training pipelines, and constant attention during the engagement. We built the complete system so any operator can achieve consistent intercepts without those requirements. The result is a system that can be fielded at the small-unit and critical-infrastructure level without the specialist crews or multi-million-dollar missiles that current layered air defence relies on.\n\nAeglos is operationally deployed, radar-agnostic, manufactured in Europe, and NDAA-compliant with no Chinese components.\n\n**Why us:**\n\nThe entire team is ex-military with frontline Ukrainian experience, primarily in elite units and air defence. Collectively, we have hundreds of confirmed drone intercepts across multiple systems. We designed Aeglos from that experience - in the same contested Ukrainian airspace where most Western systems have not yet been stress-tested at scale.\n\n[\\@James Walton](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/user/3723601): British Army and UAS expert with frontline Ukrainian experience who has previously run companies.\n\n[\\@Dan Komorny](https://bookface.ycombinator.com/user/3723983): A decade of experience in Drones and Security directly in Ukraine. Serial entrepreneur with multiple startups under his belt.\n\nThe Team: Commandos, Airborne, Special Forces and Air Defense veterans.\n\n**Ask**\n\nIntroductions to air defence and C-UAS leads in NATO-aligned militaries, national acquisition teams, and operators responsible for protecting forward positions and critical infrastructure.\n\nWe are also open to partnerships with complementary companies.\n",
